Matthew Groch
Senior Director of the Decarbonization Campaign, Mighty Earth
Matthew Groch is a Senior Director at Mighty Earth where he oversees the organization’s decarbonization campaign.
Prior to joining Mighty Earth, he served as Deputy Director at Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch division, where he worked on trade and globalization issues including the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and global access to Covid-19 vaccines, tests, and treatments.
He previously worked as Vice President for TruBlu Politics, a Democratic consulting firm that developed strategic campaign communication plans for dozens of clients at the state and local levels. Matthew also worked as a Project Coordinator to Dr. Stanley Greenberg at the renowned public opinion research and consulting firm, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, where he managed clients, projects, and staff across the globe. He has also held various positions working for a Member of the U.S. Congress and has worked on numerous electoral campaigns.

Lane Boldman
Executive Director, Kentucky Conservation Committee
Lane Boldman has been with the Kentucky Conservation Committee since 2014 and has been a leader on environmental advocacy issues in Kentucky since 1992, where she works on environmental policy development, grassroots advocacy and social justice issues. The Kentucky Conservation Committee is a state-based conservation policy collaborative, and is one of the longest-running environmental advocacy organizations in Kentucky, serving the Commonwealth for 48 years. They provide a trusted voice for the environment through their base of nonprofit lobbyists, allies, members and supporters. KCC works in a nonpartisan manner to ensure that our democracy works for all citizens in Kentucky, particularly those who are not able to advocate for themselves. KCC’s issue areas include a focus on climate change, land conservation, biodiversity and energy transition.
Over her career, Lane has held leadership roles related to mining, forestry, wildlands, energy and communications. She currently serves on the board of the Kentucky Solar Energy Society and the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign Leadership Team. Lane is also a former Board Executive Committee member of the National Sierra Club and board member of the Citizens’ Coal Council.

Tom Lewis
Senior Policy Advisor, Manufacturing and Industrial Policy, BlueGreen Alliance
Tom Lewis is a Senior Policy Advisor, Manufacturing and Industrial Policy at the BlueGreen Alliance (BGA), where he works with the industrial and federal teams, focusing on new investments in clean manufacturing and industrial transformation.
Tom joins BGA from Advanced Energy Economy (AEE). While at AEE, he worked with the federal policy team, clean energy businesses, and allies to advocate for passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, increased funding for the Defense Production Act, and robust implementation of clean manufacturing programs.
Prior to AEE, Tom worked at the Rural Health Network of South Central New York, where he led food system, rural development, and anti-hunger efforts. Tom was also the first intern for the Sierra Club’s Labor and Economic Justice Program, where he explored the intersection of economic, racial, and environmental injustices and worked with labor movement partners to push for an equitable transition to a clean economy that supports good union jobs.
Tom graduated from Binghamton University, where he earned a Master of Public Administration and undergrad degrees in Political Science and Economics.

Ben Inskeep
Program Director, Citizens Action Coalition
Ben Inskeep is Program Director at the Citizens Action Coalition (CAC). CAC's mission statement is to improve the quality of life of all inhabitants of the State of Indiana through principled advocacy of public policies to preserve democracy, conserve natural resources, protect the environment, and provide affordable access to essential human services. As part of that work, Ben is leading CAC's industrial decarbonization campaign.
Prior to joining CAC, Ben worked as a renewable energy policy consultant at the consulting firm EQ Research. Ben earned a Master of Public Affairs and Master of Science in Environmental Science degrees at the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University.

Mat McDermid
Program Director, Autos, The Sunrise Project
Mat brings over a decade in impact strategy spanning corporate sustainability and social impact campaigning across a wide range of issues. Prior to joining Sunrise, he worked at Purpose leading diverse client and partner projects—including Everytown to Gun Safety, UN Human Rights, and Oak Foundation’s prevent child sexual abuse programme—and progressed to become Global Head of Strategy shaping Purpose’s strategy practices, skill-sharing, mentorship and growth, and then Co-Head of the New York office. Previously in corporate sustainability, Mat worked across sectors, including the power sector and apparel, pushing clients’ climate and sustainability ambitions.
His career began with the Australian Foreign Service: working daily with local officials on his posting to Baghdad, Iraq, then on the Afghanistan desk, it was a quintessentially formative experience.
Mat received his M.S. in Environment & Energy Policy at New York University and Bachelors from The University of Queensland. Born and raised in Australia, Mat is based in New York City and enjoys practicing photography and woodworking, rock climbing and hiking, and pursuing a lifelong land stewardship endeavor in the Gunks.
Joe Quinn
Vice President of Strategic Industrial Materials, SAFE
Joe Quinn leads the Center for Strategic Industrial Materials (SAFE), a new policy initiative dedicated to advancing more secure and sustainable supply chains for aluminum and other industrial materials critical to America’s national and economic security. Quinn is developing a framework designed to ensure resilient and domestic aluminum production. Prior to joining SAFE, Quinn served as the Vice President of External Affairs & Industry Relations at the Aluminum Association. He raised the industry’s profile, created the Congressional Aluminum Caucus, set new membership records, and served as a strategic advisor to the industry on trade and energy issues. Previously, Quinn worked at public relations firms positioning organizations favorably with key opinion leaders to advance policy initiatives. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Public Affairs Council. A Cincinnati native, he received his B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina.

Annie Sartor
Aluminum Campaign Director, Industrious Labs
Prior to joining the team at Industrious Labs, Annie led the business partnerships team at Paid Leave for the US (PL+US), helping to win new or expanded access to paid leave for over eight million working people and leveraging private sector voices to support public policy solutions for paid family and medical leave. With over 15 years of experience in public advocacy campaigns, Annie is passionate about building nimble, effective campaigns to win concrete victories. Annie lives in Oakland, California.

Ian Wells
Advocate, Industrial Decarbonization, Climate & Clean Energy Program, NRDC
Ian Wells focuses on steel and aluminum decarbonization in New York State. Prior to NRDC, Ian worked for BlueGreen Alliance as a policy advisor covering industrial emissions reduction, hydrogen, and offshore wind. He also has experience working in New York State, both as a senior advisor to the president and CEO of Empire State Development, and on a local level promoting equitable economic development initiatives for the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation.
